Mac Mail First Time Account Set-Up
This instruction set will walk you through initial set-up for your zianet.com email account in Mac Mail. The images here may be slightly different than those you have in your version of Mac Mail but the settings are the same for all versions.
If you already have your zianet.com account in Mac Mail and just want to check the settings, click here.
If you are adding an additional e-mail account to Mac Mail, click here.
For first time Mac Mail set-up, continue on this page.
Open Mac Mail. The Icon looks like a postage stamp
Once you've opened Mail, click on the menu labeled "Mail", and select "Preferences".
The Welcome to Mail dialog box will appear.
In the Full Name field, type your name.
In the E-mail Address field, type your full zianet.com e-mail address.
In the Incoming mail server field, type in mail.zianet.com
Click the arrow box on the Account Type pop-up list and choose POP.
In the User Name field, type your username. This is the part of the e-mail address before the @ sign.
In the Password field, type your ZiaNet password.
In the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) field, type in mail.zianet.com.
Click OK.
At this point, Mail will attempt to contact the mail server.
If it is not successful, click "Continue" on the warning message.
Click No for now.
The Welcome dialog box will appear
Click No.
Congratulations, your Mac Mail is ready to send and receive e-mail
Mac Mail Account Settings
This instruction set will guide you through checking your zianet.com e-mail account settings in Mac Mail. The images here may be slightly different than those you have in your version of Mac Mail but the settings are the same for all versions.

Open Mac Mail. The Icon looks like a postage stamp
Once you've opened Mail, click on the menu labeled "Mail", and select "Preferences".
The Mac Mail preferences window will appear.
Click "Accounts" on the top row of icons and select the "Account Information" tab (to the right).
The Account type should be POP.
Description You can type anything you wish here to describe the account.
We find it makes sense to use the e-mail address.
E-Mail Address should be your zianet.com e-mail address.
Full Name can be your name, a nickname, business name, etc.
This will be visible on any e-mail you send from this account.
Incoming Mail Server should be mail.zianet.com
User Name is the part of your email address before the @ sign.
Password is the password for your this email address.
Outgoing Mail Server
You can edit the Outgoing Mail Server by clicking the "Server Settings" button.
The Outgoing Mail Server should be mail.zianet.com
The Server port should be 587
Authentication should be "None".
You can click OK to close the SMTP Server Options.
Finally, Click on the Advanced tab at the top.
Make sure that the Port is 110 and Use SSL is *not* selected.
Authentication should be set to Password.
That's all there is to it! Close the Accounts window by clicking the red circle in the top right corner. If you made changes, Mac Mail should ask if you want to save the settings. Once that is done, you are ready to use Mail for OS X.
Add Additional Mac Mail Account
This instruction set will walk you through adding a zianet.com email account in Mac Mail. The images here may be slightly different than those you have in your version of Mac Mail but the settings are the same for all versions.

If you are already using Mac Mail, and just want to add another e-mail account, continue on this page.

Click the + button (lower left of the window).
The Welcome to Mail dialog box will appear.
In the Full Name field, type your name.

Microsoft Outlook E-Mail Setup
These instructions show you how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2003® to work with your ZiaNet e-mail account. The settings used in this instruction set can be used for all versions of Microsoft Outlook but the screens may look somewhat different.
To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook
- In Microsoft Outlook, from the E-mail Accounts menu, select Tools.
 
- On the E-mail Accounts wizard window, select Add a new e-mail account, then click Next.
- Select POP3, then click Next.
- On the Internet E-mail Settings window, enter your information as follows:
  - Your Name
- Your first and last name.
This can also be the name of a Business or Organization
- E-mail Address
- Your ZiaNet email address.
- User Name
- The part of your email address before the @ sign.
- Password
- Your email account password.
- Incoming mail server (POP3)
- mail.zianet.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
- mail.zianet.com
- On the Internet E-mail Settings window, go to the Outgoing Server tab.
- Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Go to the Advanced tab, and change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port to 587.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
Click More Settings.
